Donald S. Beynon of Tunkhannock passed away peacefully Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, surrounded by those who loved him.

Born March 11, 1939, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Daniel and Sophie (Krahel) Beynon. He attended Scranton schools and was a graduate of Technical High School, class of 1957, and Lackawanna Junior College.

Donald served honorably in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Wasp – Aircraft Carrier. Upon discharge from the Navy, Donald joined his father’s automobile business, working as a mechanic at Beynon Motor Sales in the Green Ridge section of Scranton. Donald later worked as a truck driver and in the automotive parts business.

Donald was a lifelong fishing and hunting enthusiast, and for many years traveled to Canada with family to fish and hunt.

Surviving are his daughter, Leslie Stambone, of Lakeland, Fla.; his son, Donald Beynon Jr.; sisters, Sandra Nicholas, of Kingston, Pa.; Christine Beynon-Burgeon, of Wilmington, Del.; his brother, Daniel Beynon, of Old Bridge, N.J.; and former wife, Marion Beynon, of Scranton; grandchildren, C.J. Stambone and wife, Alyssa; Maria Stambone; Donny Beynon and wife, Chelsea; and Arielle Tanner; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Sara Sandrovitch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Eltz-Beynon.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at Milwaukee Cemetery, Ransom Twp., Pa.

Joseph D. Corcoran

Joseph (Joe) Corcoran, 72, of Roaring Brook Twp., died at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton, after a valiant fight with Esophageal cancer. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Pauline Prazuk Corcoran. They would have celebrated 37 years of marriage on July 2 .

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late James and Mary Sheerin Corcoran. Joe graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1965. He served in the United States Air Force as a sergeant from 1966 to 1970. He studied electronics while in the Air Force. After leaving the service, Joe decided to further his education in electronics. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in electrical engineering.

Joe was employed by RCA as an electronics equipment electrician until the plant closed in 2001. He then acquired employment at Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he worked on laser and night vision instrumentation for the war fighters. He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot in 2013. After he retired, he worked part time as a courier at AAA and Penn East Credit Union.

Also surviving are his daughters, Kelly Corcoran and husband, Bill Schoonmaker, Melbourne, Fla.; and Stacy Corcoran Kann, Honesdale, Pa.; his furry friend, Briley (dog), Roaring Brook Twp., Pa.; a sister, Marie Hopkins and husband, John, Scranton, Pa.; brother, Gerard Corcoran and wife, Anna, Clarks Summit, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Fritz, in 1978; two brothers, James Corcoran and John Corcoran; and a sister, Katherine Ann Duffy.

Joe was a loving husband. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Pauline. They traveled to numerous exotic places over the years. He especially liked cruises. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, working on his Koi pond and watching football games. He was an avid Eagles and Penn State fan.

Joe will always be remembered by everyone who knew him as a nice guy. He always had a friendly smile for everyone.

I would like to give a special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Darlene Dunay and all the staff at Allied Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Joe. They were all so kind and compassionate to us in our time of need. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

As per Joe’s wishes, there will be no viewing. He prefers that friends and family remember him the way he was.

Frederick D. Schreiber

Frederick D. Schreiber, 91, of Scranton, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. His wife is the former Eleanor M. White, the couple was married Sept. 22, 1951.

Born Dec. 1, 1928 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Irene (Davis) Schreiber.

Fred was a United States Navy veteran, and prior to his retirement was employed by the City of Scranton as fire prevention officer with the Scranton Fire Department. He was a longtime member of the Pioneer Gun Club of Forkston.

Fred was an avid hunter and fisherman, memorably out-fishing his grandchildren and he was known for taking them to baseball games and other sporting events.

Fred’s family would like to thank the Gino Merli Veterans Center, 3rd floor North, for their wonderful care and compassion. Also to Donna and Amanda with Allied Home Health Services for their great care and friendship.

He is also survived by his daughters, Kathy A. Kelly and husband, Thomas, of Scranton; and Diane L. Skrutski of Scranton; his son, David F. Schreiber and wife, Rosann, of Scranton; grandchildren, Amy Cruz (Juan), Lindy Rieder (Barry), Tony Skrutski (Molly), Rory Kelly (Dana), Elizabeth Skrutski, Ben Schreiber (Christie) and Kurt Schreiber (Amber); 13 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sharon Schreiber of Connecticut; and his niece, Kim Komar.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Schreiber, in January 2020.

Funeral services will be conducted:
Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Daniel Jones officiating.

Military honors will follow the services.

Charlene A. Robinson, 67 of Greentown died Sunday at Geisinger – Wyoming Valley following a brief illness. She is the wife of John E. Robinson, the couple were married April 9, 2004.

Born May 27, 1952 in Scranton, she was the daughter of Marion (Price) Colleran of Lake Ariel, and the late Joseph Colleran.

Charlene was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and was employed as a Certified Nurses Aid for many years. Charlene was a member of Light of Christ Church in Jefferson Twp. and a member of the Greene-Dreher Volunteer Fire Association. Charlene served faithfully as a member of Green-Dreher Twp. Fire Police.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her sons: Johnny Cowell and wife Laura of Carbondale, and Dennis Cowell of Greentown;her sister Cathy Martinelli and husband Tom of Florida (2)grandchildren: Rebecca Cowell of Taylor, and Charles Murphy Bell of Taylor.

A memorial and celebration of life and fire service honors will be conducted:

Robin A. Covey, 61, of Salem Twp., died Tuesday.

Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Romayne (Alt) Covey, of Madison Twp., and the late Raymond Covey. Robin was employed as a certified registered nurse practitioner.

She is also survived by her two brothers; her son, Michael Montalvo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

Joan A. Pallante of Covington Twp., Pa., passed away at her home Saturday after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband is James J. Pallante Sr. The couple was married April 28, 1962.

Born at her family home in Paulsboro, N.J., Joan was a distinguished educator who earned a bachelor of arts degree cum laude and a master’s degree with honors from Rowan University (Glassboro State College). Joan was awarded her doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She was the only student in the long history of the University of Pennsylvania to include herself as a subject in her dissertation.

Joan was an elementary and high school teacher, reading supervisor and college professor. She regularly presented papers at academic conferences, and published many articles and papers.

Joan was an excellent athlete, excelling in tennis, skiing and golf. She won a bronze medal in the Steamboat Colorado slalom race and won many golf tournaments. Joan was also a prize winning chef. She will be dearly missed her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her children, James Pallante Jr. and wife, Marybeth; Joseph Pallante and wife, Denise; John David Pallante; and Jacquelyn Rooney and husband, Sean; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Tony and David; her sister, Millie; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be celebrated:
Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Church St., Moscow.

Interment and committal services will be conducted at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Joan M. Joyce 88, of Scranton, died Friday, Jan. 31, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital.

Joan was born April 8, 1931, in Scranton, the daughter of the late Jerome and Ann Joyce. Joan worked and retired from Pennsylvania Bell/AT&T and was a devout Roman Catholic.

Joan is survived by her sister, Catherine; her nephews, Jerome, Scranton; Patrick, Las Vegas; and Thomas and wife, Erika, Clarks Summit. Joan will also be remembered by her adoring great-nieces, Gabriella and Giulianna Joyce.

Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Jerome; and sister-in-law, Margaret Joyce.

A Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica chapel, Scranton

Wayne L. Moore, 73, of Jefferson Twp., died Tuesday at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center following an illness.

Born Jan. 17, 1947 in Mount Cobb, he was the son of the late Willard and Margaret (Riegal) Moore. Wayne was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his children, Bonnie Merrion; and Jason and Patrick; his sisters, Arleen Bollinger and husband, Larry; and Suzanne Martin and husband, Art; his brother, Gerald J. Moore and wife, Lillian (Arnold); granddaughter, Jessica Merrion; and nieces and nephews.

Wayne was also preceded in death by his sister, Karen Ruggerio; and brother, Harold Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted:
Wednesday at Light of Christ Church, 2071 Moosic Lake Road, Mount Cobb.

Donna Mills, 56, of Peckville, died Sunday at her home after a brief illness. She is survived by her fiancé, Armond Cassetori.

Born June 17, 1963, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Helen Loveless Marcinkevich and the late Richard Smoke. She was a excellent mother with a very compassionate heart and always stood by both of her sons. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren every day and spending holidays with the family all together. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino with her girlfriends and going to see Bob, her hairdresser/owner of Headliner Beauty Salon, Scranton, and watching her Lifetime movies in her spare time. She will be truly missed and always loved by everyone who knew her.From 2014 to 2016 Donna was the owner of Donna’s County Kitchen in Dickson City. She was also employed in the past for many years as a restaurant server at Linda Kay’s and Green Ridge Restaurant. Her smile and wonderful nature were always appreciated by her dedicated customers.

Surviving are her prior husband, Frank Mills, Scranton; her two sons, Alfred Jones, Jessup; and Jonathan Jones, Blakely; sisters, Sherry Edwards, Gouldsboro; Barbara Mills, Dunmore; Tina Smoke, Scranton; Karen Cortese, Avoca; brothers, Richard Smoke, Gouldsboro; David Smoke, Honesdale; and Kenneth Smoke, Scranton; stepfather, Peter P. Charles V. Winkler

Charles Winkler, 84, a resident of Pocono Springs, Gouldsboro, PA and formerly Bloomingdale, NJ, died peacefully in Hospice of the Sacred Heart after a long series of health issues.

Born, Feb. 10, 1935 in Maramec, Pawnee County, Oklahoma, he was the son of Olivia (Inman) Spurgeon and Ralph Winkler, and brother to David Winkler, Alvin McDaniel, and Phyllis (McDaniel) Swartzlander.

Charles was a United States Navy veteran, serving on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Kearsarge, CVS 33 during the Korean conflict, and later re-enlisted to serve with his son in the New Jersey Army National Guard. Prior to his retirement as General Manager for 21st Century Corp. he was active in Scouting as Scoutmaster for local troop 286 in Bloomingdale and leaves a legacy of service to others and patriotic values.

Charles will be remembered by his surviving family; wife of 65 years Patricia (Ulery) Winkler, sons Jeffrey Winkler of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Timothy Winkler of Butler, and Christopher Winkler of Bloomingdale; grandchildren Cherilyn, Jason, Amy, Jennifer, Danielle, and Spencer; Great-Granddaughter Tess.

All services will be private and under the direction of Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, Moscow, PA

Ronald J. Legg, Sr., 75, of Covington Twp., died unexpectedly at his house on Wednesday.

Born Oct. 25, 1944, in Daleville, he was the son of the late William and Sally Pickrell Legg. He attended Moscow High School and was a graduate of Scranton Tech. Ron was a member of the Spring Brook Congregational Church. Before his retirement, Ron was the owner and operator of Legg’s Towing/Garage in Covington Twp. for more than 44 years until a fire destroyed his business in 2014.

He was a loving father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ron was a beloved coach for the North Pocono Warriors Junior Football for many years. He also coached little league baseball teams. Ron loved all sports, especially football and baseball. He was a lifetime fan of the Oakland Raiders. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His personality was larger than life and his storytelling and theatrics were infamous. He left an unforgettable imprint on many of the lives he touched. Ron will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his children, Michelle Carr and Ron J. Legg Jr., of Covington Twp.; John W. Legg and fiancée, Meredith, of Spring Brook Twp.; and Leonard Van Orden, of Edwardsville, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Juli Hineline, Jordan Carr, Morgan Carr, Brandon Legg, Autumn Legg; Kaelyn Dale and husband, Trent; Calvin Craig, Dylan Legg and Lucas Van Orden; great-granddaughter, Jasmyne; his brother, William E. Legg, of Covington Twp.; and nieces and nephews. Also, his companion of many years, Debra Silva and her family.

Jeffrey W. Lescinsky, 53, of Madison Twp., died Wednesday following a battle with cancer. He lived with his companion, Anthony S. Gobrecht.

Born Dec. 5, 1966 in Scranton, he was the son of William and Joan (Prendergast) Lescinsky of Covington Twp.

Jeffrey was a graduate of North Pocono High School, and was self employed for many years in the construction business. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is also survived by his sisters, Della Lescinsky-Shelly of Bensalem; Sharon Little and husband, Edward, of Covington Twp.; his brothers, William Lescinsky and companion, Jason McAuiffe, of Red Hill; and Bruce Lescinsky of Covington Twp.; nieces, nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private memorial and celebration of life service will be conducted at a time to be announced for his family.

Dorothy Anderson, 96, formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday evening at Allied Skilled Nursing following an illness. She was the widow of Orie Anderson.

Born Sept. 18, 1923 in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Nora (Harris) Barney.

Dorothy Barney married Joseph Knight in 1942, and from that union they had three children. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot and had previously been employed by the United States Department of the Navy in Washington D.C. Later, she married Orie Anderson.

Surviving are her children, Reginald J. Knight (Jean) of Elmhurst Twp.; Joann Williams (Arthur) of Baltimore, Md.; and Michelle Parry (Ken) of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Dorothy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Medley; and brother, Bernard Barney.

A private blessing service will be conducted:
Tuesday at Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church St., Moscow.

Entombment and committal services will be conducted at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.

Esther M. Sheerer, 55, a resident at Riverside Nursing and Rehab in Taylor, and formerly of Madison Twp., died Sunday after an illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1965, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Darlene Silfee Sheerer. Esther attended North Pocono High School and before her illness was employed as an nurse’s aide.

Esther was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her son, Thomas M. Reese, Scranton; sister, Arlene Howell and husband, Richard, Landisburg; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, LuAnn Doninni; and brothers, Joseph and Howard Sheerer.

Frank S. Foley, 87, of Madison Twp., died Friday at Allied Hospice following a lengthy illness. His wife, Pauline Walsh Foley, died April 4, 2019.

Born Sept. 21,1932 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Molnar) Foley. Frank was educated in the Dunmore schools and was a United States Army veteran. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. Prior to his retirement, Frank was employed by Ferranti Beer Distributors of Scranton for many years.

Frank was an avid Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins fan. Frank was a kind and gracious man who will be dearly missed by his family.
Surviving are his daughters, Karen Saxe and husband, Bill, of Taylor; and Cathy Foley of Dunmore; his brother, James Foley and wife, Andrea, of Jessup; his grandchildren, John and wife, Alicia; and Kerry, Michael, Sara and Zachary; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Brielle and Casen; his stepchildren, Larry Walsh of Boonesboro, Md.; Gary Walsh of Clarks Summit; Barbara Blackburn of Raleigh, N.C.; and Linda Kutyna of Clarks Summit; and nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, John and Robert; and sisters, Ann Marie and his twin, Frances.

Bob “Jeep” Guimento, 86, of Dunmore, went home to the lord on January 2, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family at Allied Skilled Nursing Center.

Born in Scranton on June 11th, 1933, he was the son of the late Mary Casserella and Angelo Guimento. Jeep was a 1951 graduate of Dunmore High School where he achieved many awards in track and field. He was a proud veteran serving in the Korean War. A member of St. Mary’s Mount Carmel Church. He was a freemason belonging to the Arora Lodge. A member of the Elite Club that hosted the annual bunny hunt at St. Anthony’s Park in Dunmore. He was a member of the carpenters local 465 for 57 years. He was also a carpenter instructor for Home Builders Institute at the Keystone Job Corps Center in Drums, PA where he taught underprivileged inner-city youth from Washington DC, Baltimore, MD, and Philadelphia areas. An active individual in the Carpenters Union and the community Robert utilized his building trade talents supporting entities such as Saint Josephs, Habitat for Humanity and friends on their weekend projects.

He loved going to Dunmore football games and meeting his friends at Jr. Maira’s bar. He also enjoyed bowling, Penn State, his cats, and of course his cookies. He was always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

He leaves behind his wife of 59 years the former June A. Lonsdorf, his daughter Janice Guimento of Dunmore, grandson Kael, aunt Mary Torcasso of Dunmore, sister Vera Kolatis, and Brother in law Frank Kolatis of Dunmore, his sister in law Sara Lonsdorf, brother in law Arthur Lonsdorf of Scranton, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Angelo “Peto” Guimento and his niece Ellen Popp.

Masonic funeral rites will be performed Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family asks lieu of flowers to donate in Bob’s name to:
St. Cats and Dogs Inc. located in the old Nay Aug Zoo, 1900 East Gibson St, Scranton PA.

His talents and friendship will be missed by all who knew him.

Helen J. Cerra, 92, formerly of Dunmore died Wednesday at Abington Manor, where she had been a guest. She was the widow of Anthony Cerra who died February 1, 2013. The couple had been married for 65 years.

Born in Mayfield, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Rutkowski) Kulesa. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and a member of the former All Saints Parish in Dunmore.

Helen worked in the garment industry most of her life. An accomplished and talented seamstress, she created beautiful outfits that adorned her grandchildren throughout the years. Helen could draw, crochet, refinish and reupholster furniture. No task proved too daunting for Helen. She had a gift for gardening, whether flowers or vegetables, everything she touched blossomed and flourished under her care. Helen enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and her Italian Christmas Eve dinners will be missed, but will live on in many fond memories of fine food and camaraderie.

Helen was an avid bowler, a frequent traveler, and a proud member of the “Red Hat Society”. She enjoyed precious moments with her family and socializing with her friends. She was multi-talented woman with many interests, displaying a modest and unassuming demeanor.

Surviving are her sons: James and wife Jean of Coplay, PA, Anthony and wife Ann Marie of Clarks Summit; her daughter Linda Padula and husband Frank of Lake Ariel; grandsons: Christian Cerra and A.J. Cerra, and Frank Padula; and granddaughters: Jennifer Cerra Schweyer, Jenelle Cerra Melton, Leah Padula and Ashley Padula; (3) great-grandchildren; her sisters: Eleanor Conrad and Mary Ann Gurz.

She was preceded in death by her brothers John, Frank, Joseph and Chester Kulesa.

Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore, PA

Friends may call on:
Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home 1810 Sanderson Avenue Scranton, PA

Interment and Committal prayers will be conducted in Dunmore Cemetery.
